Returns Policy

In accordance with applicable consumer protection laws, customers may benefit from a statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days from the date of receipt, except where exclusions apply as outlined below.

Malgré-Lui operates with handcrafted processes and very limited production volumes. As such, returns are strictly regulated.

General Policy

  • No exchanges are offered under any circumstances.

  • Returns are accepted only in compliance with the conditions set out below.

  • Certain products are automatically excluded from any right of return or exchange due to their nature.

Made-to-Order Items (No Returns – No Exchanges)

Any product identified as made to order, meaning produced, assembled, or finished specifically after an order is placed, is strictly non-returnable and non-exchangeable.

This applies automatically and without exception.

In accordance with Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code and equivalent UK/EU regulations, the statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to goods produced to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised.

By placing an order for a made-to-order item, the customer expressly acknowledges and accepts that:

  • the item is produced specifically for them,

  • the sale is final,

  • no return, exchange, or refund will be accepted,
    except in the case of a proven manufacturing defect.

Eligibility for Returns (Non Made-to-Order Items Only)

For items not produced made to order, a return may be accepted only if all of the following conditions are met:

  • The return request is made within 14 days of receipt

  • The item is strictly unused, unworn, and unwashed

  • The item is returned in perfect original condition

  • All original packaging, tags, accessories, and protective elements are included

  • The item shows no signs of wear, odor, damage, alteration, or use

Any item that does not fully comply with these conditions will be refused and returned to the customer at their expense.

Non-Returnable Items

Returns are not accepted for:

  • Made-to-order items

  • Underwear or hygiene-sensitive items

  • Any item that has been worn, altered, damaged, or used

Return Request Procedure (When Applicable)

To request a return, the customer must contact help@malgrelui.com within 14 days of receiving the order.

Returns sent without prior written approval will not be accepted.

Once approved, the item must be shipped back within 14 days of the return approval.

Return Shipping

  • All return shipping costs are entirely the responsibility of the customer

  • Returned items must be shipped using a tracked and insured service

  • Malgré-Lui is not responsible for items lost, delayed, or damaged during return transit

Inspection & Refunds

All returned items are subject to thorough inspection upon receipt.

If the return is approved:

  • The refund will cover the price of the product only

  • Original shipping costs are non-refundable

  • The refund will be issued to the original payment method after inspection

If the return is refused following inspection, no refund will be issued.

International Orders

The same policy applies to international orders.
Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs, customs duties, taxes, and any additional fees incurred.

Proof of Purchase

A valid proof of purchase is required for all return requests.
Returns without proof of purchase may be refused.

Acceptance of Terms

By placing an order on our website, the customer acknowledges that they have read, understood, and fully accepted this Returns & Made-to-Order Policy, including the non-returnable and non-exchangeable nature of made-to-order items.
